Ball and other events. The Museum has the largest inventory of Lanza material
in the world. All profits go towards Mario's dream of promoting good music and
assisting deserving singers with their financial needs. The Institute has awarded
over 200 scholarships to-date and many of the scholarship winners have gone on
to pursue careers in the opera.
The Mario Lanza Institute was incorporated in 1962.

2008 MARIO LANZA BALL WEEKEND festivities in Philadelphia will be held November 1st & 2nd.
Saturday November 1st at 6pm is the Pre-Ball function which includes a buffet dinner, live entertainment and auction, all hosted by Dominic Mantuano. The dinner cost is $70.00 with a discounted price of $55.00 to those also attending The Ball.
Sunday November 2nd is The Ball, with cocktails at 5pm and dinner at 6pm. The cost is $135.00 per person. In addition to dinner and dancing, there will be a video presentation and the finalists competing for the Mario Lanza Scholarship will perform and a winner chosen. We are fortunate and pleased to have Ms. Elaine Malbin perform the duty of Mistress of Ceremonies again this year. We are also very happy to announce that Monica Rosenthal will again sponsor the $2500 first place scholarship in this year's competition As we get further details about the evening's itinerary, we will add it.
Sunday morning at 10am there is a Mario Lanza Memorial Mass at the St.Magdalen de Pazzi Church, where Mario first sang the Ave Maria, right next door to the Mario Lanza Museum. Following the Mass there will be a reception at the Museum. Everyone is encouraged to participate and meet fellow fans.
All events are held at the DoubleTree Hotel. The block of rooms reserved at the Doubletree by the Institute are $159.00 double occupancy, which is an approximate savings of $70.00 over regular pricing. When reserving, make sure you tell them you are attending the Mario Lanza Ball in order to receive the discount.
Please remember - this annual fundraiser helps the Mario Lanza Institute perpetuate Mario's dream of aiding young aspring opera singers through scholarships. It's a fun weekend and great opportunity to meet other Lanza fans!
